Goodbye Ron Paul, Good Luck With That Congress Thing.

Anyone that’s read this blog, knows that I have been a Ron Paul supporter for almost thirty years. We met at my mom’s beach house in Surfside, TX back in ‘78 or ‘79 I don’t recall exactly, but I’ve always been impressed with his resolve and commitment to principle.
He’s been my write in candidate for the last six elections and I really felt this was the time. But sadly, he has all but dropped out of the race.
I actually wish he would, it’s too debilitating to endure this charade any longer.
If you recall, I said in an earlier post that it appeared as though he didn’t really intend to win this election from the get go.Read it Here.
And I felt betrayed back then, so much so that I resigned from my local meetup group and stood on the sidelines trying to determine if anymore effort and money were warranted on this campaign.
I mean, why should I invest in a half-hearted campaign?
Well, obviously, I wasn’t alone. The money bombs fizzled.
Turns out that a lot of Ron Paul supporters that question the official government account of the 9/11 tragedy also felt betrayed when Ron Paul emphatically distanced himself from those of us that contend there is much to question there.
And the donations continue to dry up.
A couple of days ago, I got the infamous “Message from Ron” quoting of all people the Bolshevik Marxist Leon Trotsky. I kid you not. I couldn’t believe this letter.
Basically conceding that he hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in hell of winning and so now he’s going to concentrate on his congressional seat, because god knows it’s essential to have that seat. It’s been the bastian of freedom and liberty. Not that it’s done any good.
Okay that was cynical.
But what do you expect. This campaign staff has claimed time and again that there was a strategy to win and all the Paultards (these are supporters that believe Ron Paul is ordained by god to be king) anyway, these Paultards spew their “Ron Paul knows what he’s doing” or “He knows how to win an election” vomit and we questioners were flamed into silence.
Well, as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And this pudding sucks.
Well, in this letter he also put to rest, what I thought was the only viable option to getting elected, a third party run. Instead, he chose to remain loyal to the party at the expense of the election.
I read a great article today by Jeff Rense called Ron Paul’s Goodbye. Read it, I think you’ll like it. An excerpt from that article:
Ron announced.”I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican”and will not leave the party to run as an independent. (A Paul-Kucinich ticket would have at least been FUN).
WHAT Republican party?? That was a lamentable statement to read. Ron must be thinking it is still the Republican Party of the 19th century.
The Republican ‘party’ NOW stands for the BIG LIE, it stands for CRIME and DEATH, for GENOCIDE and PERVERSION, for TAXATION and GRAFT, for the FED and FINANCIAL RAPE, for DOMESTIC SPYING and the PATRIOT ACT, …it stands for the end of LIBERTY and of our CONSTITUTION. Above all, it now stands for Zionism and WAR.
My sentiments exactly. Well, I am ending my presidential election tradition of writing in Ron Paul, because I see now that he is a party loyalist and not the man I created in my mind.
Goodbye Ron Paul and good luck with that congress thing.
election republican primary ron paul Ron Paul 2008

Hey Roy Said What,
I’m in complete agreement with your thesis. My question is what was he thinking? Why would he do this? Raise peoples hopes only to make a half hearted attempt. Seems it would do more harm than good. The disaffected myself included will only be pushed farther away from the process as a result. And neither major party deserves resuscitation.
I had seen some Ron Paul videos on YouTube and was hooked on the message. But the first time I saw him live was at the debate he was included in at NH. After he did poorly in that primary the LA times ran a web piece asking supporters to identify the reason for the poor showing. Based on my impression of his performance at that debate I said I didn’t think he looked like he wanted to win.
Now I see he is calling for a march on DC. But one of his supporters was already trying to organize one. All he had to do was throw his approval towards that one. Now I read the forum on his http://www.ronpaul2008 site and it’s rife with confusion.
And in regards to the recent ambiguous letter informing all that he is scaling back his national campaign it is awfully reminiscent of Perot dropping out to protect his daughters wedding. He then re-entered but by then the damage had been done. He probably lost half his support. Why would RP release a letter like that the night before a day of primaries and caucuses? Couldn’t that letter have waited a day?
I’m just curios if you might have some insight as to what Paul hoped to gain from all of this. Because I’m quite certain he doesn’t want to win the presidency. Otherwise wouldn’t he be out and about in bus like the rest of ‘em. Taking his message to masses. He has the funds. What up with that? I ask you because you’ve actually met the man and have knowledge of him going much further back than mine. Thanks if you get the time to read and respond.
Best wishes,
Jim
Hey Jim:
I remember you from the Ron Paul Daily Dose. Thanks for stopping by.
I’ll tell you, I don’t know what the paid campaign staff is doing, but an eighth grader running for student body council could run a better campaign.
It’s one misstep after another.
I watched the video and he was convincing that he was staying in the race, but it was very clear, he has no intention of winning. I think you probably see that too.
Oh well.
The big thing now is Republicrat this and Republicrat that, and I’m just not interested. I’ve hated young republicans for most of my life and I’m not about to cozy up with them now.
That’s the Frank Zappa influence I guess.
Thanks again for stopping by and don’t be a stranger.

Hi Roy
I came across your site while viewing the comments about the ron paul march on the ronpaul site. You mention something about young republicans, and I am not sure what you mean by that, if you are talking about age, or time as a republican……However I wanted to comment on your article. I personally am new to politics, and I have many years of educating myself ahead to catch up, and I am also new to Ron Paul’s message. For most of my life I have lived through bush, clinton, bush, and I don’t know about you, but living through that, has never made me interested in politics. Let alone positive about where our country was headed.
Since November when I learned about Ron Paul, I have researched and studied anything I could possibly get my hands on. I even follow strange people’s links just to see what there views are.
I have probably watched at least 15 documentaries since November. I still have a whole netflix list to watch.
What I have seen over the last view months is what I call amazing. I think it is wonderful that you have been following Ron Paul for 30 years. I only wish I could have known his message earlier in life. For all I know I am the age you were when you first learned. The point I am trying to make is people are waking up. The accomplishments Ron Paul has made thus far, are finally paying off. People are listening, caring, thinking, educating, learning, feeling, noticing, embracing, motivating and acknowledging because of what they are learning from Ron Paul’s message.
Ron Paul is only educating the people. He is letting them know that they can live a life with small government, freedom, prosperity, liberties, and peace.
It is a way of life. The only decision I believe I have to make is how do I want to live my life.
There are always going to be neo-con war mongerers, and uneducated people.
There are also going to be people that know Ron Paul’s message (way of life).
So knowing all this, I only see one thing to do. Live life the way it should be lived, and educate everyone possible of the freedom and peace we should all have.
I guess that was two things, but I am sure you get what I am saying.
Peace to you my friend!

Let me first say that it is a pleasure to chat with you on this subject and I appreciate your chosen writing style, very open and honest. I appreciate you following this “strange persons” link, may you be edified.
For educational purposes only.
Young republicans are the movement within the republican party for members 18-40, the GOP clone factory, if you will.
My reference to it had more to do with party loyalism than to actual age. Many of today’s leaders were members of the club.
You will know them by their fruits.
Growing up in the sixties and seventies, the young republicans were the pro-nixon, pro-government nutjobs and the recipients of much derision by my friends and I.
We always knew that there were more of us peace loving hippies than warmongers and as soon as we took control of things from the cold war relics, man, the glory days would begin. Peace on earth.
Who would have thought back in 1975 that things would get worse? That the young republicans we used to laugh at would grow up and turn our country into a modern day Nazi war machine? And that the two parties would morph into one only give the appearance of choice.
I still carry that around, tells you something about me, I suppose.
I am very proud of you taking the truth and running with it and like for my own children I pray that enlightenment comes sooner rather than later and the world is finally free from the military industrial complex.
I am afraid that although the message is new to you, our window of opportunity is rapidly closing and our dream is fading fast.
I don’t subscribe to the change the GOP strategy, being a republican is not the answer.
Love thy neighbor as thyself. That’s the answer.
I also don’t buy into the Ron Paul Revolution. It tapped into the unrest and gave it some venting, and although I deeply respect and honor Dr. Paul, he proved that he wasn’t the man to take the mantle.
Thanks again for posting.
